SINTON, TEXAS

N 28° 2.2028 / W 97° 30.9178

Copyright version 1934, cast zinc.

Smithsonian Art Inventory Control Number: 47260112.
Picture
At northeast corner of West Sinton and North Odem Street, on San Patricio Courthouse grounds.
Picture
The engraving on the front of the granite base reads:

ERECTED 1938
BY THE CITIZENS OF
SAN PATRICIO COUNTY
IN COMMEMORATION OF OUR
WORLD WAR VETERANS
Picture
It is believed that the specific dedication date was May 30, 1938, but it might have been a few days earlier.

The Doughboy has been painted a silver color. While there is a crack on the front of the right leg, the sculpture appears to be in very good condition.
