Located on the lawn of the Town Hall at John Street and Patterson Plank Road.
An inscription on the primary plaque on the front of the base reads:

A lower plaque is in honor of Raymond Frank Schopman, a Corporal in the U. S. Army who was born in 1949 and was killed in Vietnam in 1968.
The Doughboy was dedicated in 1927, but the exact date has not been determined.
It is believed that the Doughboy has been painted and would benefit from some treatment. He is leaning sharply to his right.
