1923 (est.) - "GOB" - " The Spirit of the American Sailor"
The 1923 ad below, left, although primarily concerned with Viquesney's miniature "Spirit of the American Doughboy", contains an intriguing reference at the end to a piece called "GOB", the "Spirit of the American Sailor", a different title than the artist's "Spirit of the American Navy", a piece which didn't appear until 1926. Inferring from the ad text, it sounds like "GOB" was also a miniature.
Whatever the case, no examples of Viquesney's "GOB", the "Spirit of the American Sailor" have yet surfaced.
