Although the rifle points sharply downward, this memorial contains an engraved image obviously based upon Viquesney's "Spirit of the American Doughboy", complete with hand grenade and gas mask pouch as would be seen from the front of the actual statue. It is a modern memorial constructed long after the artist's death. More information can be found at the links below.
