THE BLUE AND THE GRAY CIVIL WAR MONUMENT
Despite the grand newspaper coverage, this monument to both sides in the Civil War, designed by E. M. Viquesney and planned for the town of Fitzgerald, Georgia, never got built. It was advertised as the only such bipartisan Civil War monument in the world at that time, but ran into funding problems. A photo of the young artist is at lower right.
