MINNESOTA HISTORICAL SOCIETY
OPENS WWI TRAVELING EXHIBIT
Opened on April 8, 2017, the St. Paul Minnesota Historical Society is now running a traveling exhibit depicting life in the U.S. during WWI. Under the direction of Richard Rummel and funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, a full-scale replica of E.M. Viquesney's "Spirit of the American Doughboy" is curently on display at the exhibit. Created from a Viquesney Doughboy lamp base bought on eBay, which was then scanned and scaled up, then rough-cut from foam, finished and painted, the statue now stands as the ending touch of the exhibit, near the exit. The show runs at St. Paul until September 4, 2017, and then continues on a tour of the U.S., with possible (nothing definite yet) stops at Richmond, VA, Austin, TX, Omaha, NE, and the Los Angeles, CA.
