1931 (est.): BUST OF KNUTE ROCKNE
Viquesney researcher T. Perry Wesley mentioned a bust of famed Notre Dame University football coach Knute Rockne as one of the artist's many creations, but so far, neither a photo of one, nor any other information about it, has surfaced. The piece, if it ever existed at all, would probably have been created as a memorial tribute after Rockne's death in 1931.
In September, 2014, site visitor Bob Bellamy sent us the photo at left. It's a plaster bust of Knute Rockne from the time period 1929 - 1933. The only markings on the piece, besides Rockne's signature on the front, are the letters "EM" on the back. "EM" for E. M. Viquesney, perhaps? Or is it just a coincidence? The lettering style of the "EM" doesn't match other works by the artist, which leads us to conclude that this isn't a Viquesney, but if his Knute Rockne bust does indeed exist, it might look similar to this.
